Cattle, grass & methane

Papa called yesterday and told a joke about cows and methane, if you contact Papa I'm sure he'll be glad to tell you the joke. It reminded me of an article I read which stated that properly managed grass pastures would absorb more methane than a cow produces.

Apparently there are a lot of benefits to natural grass fed products.

No Joke!
Here are the facts:
Some microbes respire in the cattle gut by an anaerobic process known as methanogenesis (producing the gas methane). Cattle emit a large volume of methane, 95% of it through eructation or burping, not flatulence.
